The intent of this competitive grant is to encourage municipalities to sustain their community forestry program and maintain their status as a Tree City USA through a celebratory tree planting in which a large specimen tree or a grove of trees is planted in a prominent location within the community.

The grants are made possible by a combination of U.S. Forest Service grant funds and unrestricted NYSUFC funds; applicants are sought in spring and/or fall. Tree City USA Reward grants of up to $1000 each go to communities that have been a Tree City USA for at least the past five years.

The fall 2021 awardees are: Village of Bellerose, Village of Canton, Town of Colonie, Town of DeWitt, Town of Greenburgh, Village of Massena, Village of Rhinebeck, Village of Saugerties, Village of Scottsville, Town of Smithtown, Village of Tarrytown, and Town of Woodstock. 🌳
