The Town of Pound Ridge (Westchester County) used a NYSUFC Tree City USA Reward Grant to fund the planting of a white oak (Quercus alba) in a prominent spot in the Town’s business district in honor of essential workers. Pound Ridge is in its seventh year as a Tree City USA.
Due to the COVID restrictions that were still in place as of April 30, public participation was limited to Town officials and representatives from the 11 groups being honored (see poster below).
Pound Ridge Town Supervisor Kevin Hansan acknowledged the grant from the NYSUFC, and said a few words about each of the groups being honored (see flyer above). They all received a small tree from the Conservation Board and a wooden plaque (wording below). It made for a meaningful occasion, indeed.
