Applications are now being accepted for the 2nd annual Urban Wood Academy, co-hosted by the USDA Forest Service, Humanim, and the City of Baltimore, with engagement by Dovetail Partners, Quantified Ventures, and Room & Board.

The Academy workshop will be held September 11-13, 2019 in Baltimore, MD (travel days: Sept 10 and afternoon of Sept 13).

The Urban Wood Academy is a multi-day, interactive, experiential workshop designed to share best practices and lessons learned around building networked, regional wood economies that support the US wood industry.   The Academy will involve a combination of classroom, field, and dialogue-based learning; it will draw expertise from those who have developed and are scaling a successful urban wood economy in Baltimore, as well from the participants, who will each bring their own experiences and perspectives.

We are accepting applications from:

  1. Individuals who are well-positioned to advance urban wood utilization in new locations or with new and diverse groups of individuals.
  2. Small teams (2-5 people) from a single location looking to advance urban wood utilization efforts.  Priority will be given to those teams that reflect a multi-sectoral approach/partnership.

Applications are due by June 28 but will be accepted after if space permits.  Selected individuals and/or teams that applied by the June deadline will be notified by mid-July.  If selected, the registration fee is $250 per individual for the Academy itself. Participants must make and pay for their own travel arrangements, though some travel scholarships will be available.  More information is available through the application.  Please share and distribute broadly!
