One-hundred-year storms are occurring more frequently now than ever before. The impacts of storms on urban trees can be dramatic, and storm response is an expensive and dangerous part of tree care. In this workshop, we’ll share things to do before, during, and after a storm to help you, your staff, and your community be prepared, safe, and resilient.
Join us to learn about emergency response preparedness and DEC’s Community Forest Storm Mitigation Planning guide that will soon be available in workbook and template format. You will also learn about storm forces and how to respond to tree damage during a storm, techniques for dealing with tree tip-ups, how to prune to minimize storm damage, and tips for keeping climate adaptation and storm resilience in mind when replacing trees lost to storms.
