Join the NYS DEC’s Urban and Community Forestry Program for a short overview of the three tools for determining disadvantaged community status in urban forestry in New York. DEC staff will discuss NY’s Disadvantaged Communities (DACs), Potential Environmental Justice Areas (PEJA), and the federal Community Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), a brief overview of the differences between the tools, and then show how to access and use them to evaluate your community. These three tools are used in urban forestry and Inflation Reduction Active (IRA) related funding opportunities to identify disadvantaged communities. Note: this event is only focused on finding and navigating various disadvantaged community tools, not about specific grant opportunities.
