NY ReLeaf 2014 participants marvel over the monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) in Hofstra’s campus pinetum.

This year’s NY ReLeaf conference is July 20-22 at Hofstra University on Long Island. The theme is “Keeping trees in mind – Planning for a better tomorrow” so please join us to learn about urban forestry from how to plant a tree to how to improve your tree ordinances, then socialize with your fellow tree people on Jones Beach at our Friday night picnic. Speakers include Dan Lambe – CEO of Arbor Day Foundation, Vinnie Simeone – Director of Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, Nina Bassuk – Professor Emeritus at Cornell University, and many more! Enjoy a tour of Hofstra’s arboretum, Hempstead Plains, or the Clark Botanic Garden, then set out to explore some of the many green spaces around Hempstead NY on Saturday afternoon after the conference ends.

The registration brochure is available on the NYS Urban Forestry Council’s website where you can register online: https://nysufc.org/releaf-annual-conference/

DEC will be applying for continuing education credits with ISA, SAF, CNLP, and Landscape Architect credits. Please watch the website for updates on what credits are available. All credits are pending provider approvals, and credits are not guaranteed.

We look forward to seeing you in July!
