Thanks to Chiu Yin Hempel of the Tuxedo Park Tree Advisory Board for forwarding photos and the following info about this event in Orange County. [Ed. note: the Tuxedo Park Tree Advisory Board website is exceptionally good!]

On Friday, November 4, 2022, the Tuxedo Park Tree Advisory Board planted six trees at the Village Office site with the help of students, teachers, and parents of the Tuxedo Park School. We thank NYS Urban Forestry Council/Tree City USA for giving us the grant to buy the trees and soil. We wanted to plant oaks but the local nurseries were out of oak stock. We planted two varieties of redbud (Cercis canadensis ‘Flame Thrower’ and ‘Forest Pansy’), two Malus ‘Robinson’, and two Magnolia virginiana.

It has been raining a lot in Tuxedo Park and the planted trees are dormant. We do not, therefore, anticipate any watering needs this fall/winter. Next year, the Village Office staff and Garden Club members will take responsibility for watering as necessary. 🌳
